About Peter Ahern

Peter Ahern is a classically trained chef, culinary educator and hospitality operations consultant with decades of experience in professional kitchens, luxury hotels, restaurant ownership, chef training and kitchen management.

He trained through Southern Sun International and the Hotel School of the Witwatersrand Technikon, graduating with honours in Professional Cookery and Hotel Management. His career includes senior kitchen positions at respected establishments such as the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Cape Sun and the Mount Nelson Hotel, as well as international experience aboard the six-star Crystal Harmony cruise liner.

Peter has owned and operated successful restaurants, established a professional cookery and management school registered with City & Guilds of London, and trained chefs through internationally recognised qualifications. He is also a qualified trainer, assessor, moderator, lecturer and facilitator, with experience in City & Guilds, SAQA and Institute of Leadership and Management programmes.

His consulting work has included kitchen layout and design, systems development, menu design, food costing, stock control, hygiene analysis, staff recruitment, staff training and management development.

Peter has worked in high-standard hospitality environments where consistency, discretion and service excellence are essential. He has also had the privilege of preparing food for international celebrities, royalty, political leaders and dignitaries.
